Class Evaluation
Image result for class evaluation
  1. I really liked this class beacuse its so fun and we learn alot of life lessons. One thing I really liked about the class was that we got to experiment with Scratch. Its a really fun way to get to learn more about coding. One game that I really liked is how you can code the Scratch cat to do whatever you want it to.
  2. I didnt like that we didnt do any random card check.
  3. I think to improve the class we should do something different everyday, instead of always having the same routine.
  4. A highlight for me was doing the Computer Science Vocabulary because I got to learn new words and definitions.
  5.  I believe I tried really hard on all of my blog posts and also completing flashcard machine cards. My current grade is an A. I believe I thouroughly reflected on all of my blog posts and really understood the content.
  6.  Yes, I do try to write in and read my life-planning goals journal at least 5 minutes a day. I really like to do this because it allows me to really analyze and reflect on my goals, as well as make journal entries about my day.
  7.  I am committed to being a CTR person because it allows me to grow in a positive way and if you Choose the Right, you will never go wrong. Choosing the Right has been very important to me because it allows me to be successsful at school, work, and at home.

Electric Drive Vehicles

Image result for Tesla Electric Car Image result for Tesla Electric Car

Electric cars run partially on electricity. Unlike conventional vehicles that use gas or diesel-powered engines, electric cars and trucks use an electric motor powered by electricity from batteries or a fuel cell. Not all electric vehicles work the same way. Plug-in hybrids offer both gas or diesel engine and an electric motor: the motor is powered by a battery that can be recharged by plugging in. Other EVs forgo liquid fuels entirely, operating exclusively on electricity. Still others power an electric motor by converting hydrogen gas into electricity. Conventional hybrid vehicles also have an electric motor, but aren’t considered EVs as they can’t be plugged-in. Electric cars in terms of air pollution and greenhouse gasses is that more safe and efficient option. Though they can be very pricy, the cost is often reduced through federal and state incentives. Just 2 months ago, I was at an electric vehicle fair event with Communities for a Better Environment. We were a booth at the event advocating one of our programs which help low income families afford clean and electric vehicles. In order to switch from a toxic to healthy community, electric cars could be the start of something great.

The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People

Habit 1: Be Proactive

"Habit 1 is the key to unlocking all the other habits and that's why it comes first. It says, "I am the captain of my life. I can choose my attitude. I'm responsible for my own happiness or unhappiness. I am in the driver's seat of my destiny, not just a passenger."

Image result for be proactive

Being proactive means to take responsibility for your own life. We can't always blame our family, friends, or others for certain things that happen in our life. Proactive people recognize that they are "responsible." They don't blame genetics, circumstances, or conditions for there behavior, because they know they choose how to behave. Opposite to reactive people who for example, might base how they are feeling off the weather. All of the external sources act as stimuli that we choose to respond to. Between the stimuli and the response is our power, the freedom to choose a response. Proactive people focus their time and energy on things they can control, instead of things they have no control over. For example, a proactive person will wake up in the morning and say "Today will be a great day." Those are things we can control, but sometimes choose not to because of problems or obstacles that come up throughout the day. In order to become a proactive person, I need to work on recognizing that I choose my actions, attitudes, and moods. I will not blame others for my wrong actions. I will do the right thing without being asked, even when no one is looking.

Habit 2: Begin with the End in Mind

"Control your own destiny or someone else will." (Jack Welch)

Image result for end in mind

I believe that Habit 2 means to envision in your mind what you cannot see present with your eyes.If you don't make a conscious effort to visualize who you are and what you want in life, then you empower other people and circumstances to shape you and your life by default. You should always begin with the End in Mind means to begin each day, task, or project with a clear vision of your desired direction and destination, and then continue by flexing your proactive muscles to make things happen. One way I can incorporate Habit 2 into my life is by creating a personal mission statement.. It focuses on what I want to be and do. It is my plan for success. It reaffirms who I am, puts my goals in focus, and moves my ideas into the real world. Your mission statement makes you the leader of your own life. You create your own destiny and secure the future you envision.

Habit 3: Put First Things First

"Organize and execute around priorities."

Image result for first things first

First things first is the exercise of independent will to create a life congruent with your values, goals and mission. The fourth human endowment, Independent Will, is the ability to make decisions and choices and act upon them. Integrity is our ability to make and keep commitments to ourselves. Management involves developing the specific application of the ideas. We should lead from the right brain creatively and manage from the left brain analytically. Time management is an essential skill for personal management. The essence of time management is to organize and execute around priorities. Methods of time management have developed in these stages: notes and checklists recognizing multiple demands on our time; calendars and appointment books scheduling events and activities; prioritizing, clarifying values integrating our daily planning with goal setting. I plan to add this habit into my life by prioritizing important stuff that needs to be done, and not stuff that is for my own entertainment.

Habit 4: Think Win-Win

"Think win-win or no deal."

Image result for win win

This habit is talking about how you should always think positive about yourself and never negative. Positive thoughts will help you be successful in life and it will let you know that you are going to achieve all those goals you have set for yourself. If everyone you know is giving you a hard time then ignore them. Don't let their negative comments affect your way of living and succeeding. Just always keep in mind that you can do it or you are going to make it. That will help you stay confident with your school work by just repeating to yourself those words. In the end you will only have yourself and your happiness. You are the only one that knows what you want to do and how you are going to achieve that. You will be the one to pick yourself up every time that you feel like falling and giving up.

Habit 5: Seek First to Understand, then to be Understood

"Diagnose before you prescribe."

If you attempt to come up with a solution for a person’s dilemma before you fully understand it do you honestly think they are ever going to fully trust you? Would you trust your mechanic to bill you for parts for your car that he only thinks are broken based purely on what you are telling him is wrong? Maybe unless you know for a fact that the person is an automotive psychic You would expect him “or her” to take a look at your car and do some work on it “first” before requesting payment, “Right?” If you are the one playing mechanic when someone brings a problem to you; the only really good way to insure that they will trust you and what you prescribe as a solution for them to work with is through your practice of empathetic listening. We should also be empathetic lsiteners and putting ourselves in others people's shoes before judging the situation.

Habit 6:  Synergize

"The whole is greater than the sum of its parts (1+1=3)"

Image result for synergize

If you attempt to come up with a solution for a person’s dilemma before you fully understand it do you honestly think they are ever going to fully trust you? Would you trust your mechanic to bill you for parts for your car that he only thinks are broken based purely on what you are telling him is wrong? Maybe unless you know for a fact that the person is an automotive psychic. You would expect him “or her” to take a look at your car and do some work on it “first” before requesting payment, “Right?” If you are the one playing mechanic when someone brings a problem to you; the only really good way to insure that they will trust you and what you prescribe as a solution for them to work with is through your practice of empathetic listening. We should also be empathetic lsiteners and putting ourselves in others people's shoes before judging the situation. We should put ourselves in someone else's shoes before judging the sitaution. We never know what one might be going through, and we can probably help them out with whatever problem they are facing. However the main key is to step back, analyze the solution, then you can take a side on the situation. I plan to apply this to my life by being more compassionate with others.

Habit 7:  Sharpen the Saw

Four Dimensions of Self-Renewal: Physical, Mental, Spiritual, Social/Emotional

Image result for sharpen the saw

Physical, Mental, Spiritual, Social/Emotional Sharpening The Saw is an ongoing process of personal change , you need to define your own balanced, four-dimensional life to be successful! If you are a leader, I believe part of your role is to help the people who report into you and/or look up to you, explore these things and establish goals for themselves.Stephen says, It means exercising all four dimensions of our nature, regularly and consistently in a wise and balanced way. To do this we have to be proactive. I love the words exercise and balance. Proactive means we have to plan for it to put it in our schedule and protect the time, for all 4 of the above mentioned dimensions.Self improvement takes time just like working out and getting fit.It is not something that you can just achieve overnight, you need to give yourself time to do it. Once you do the results will be highly beneficial to you. I plan to sharpen the saw by undergoing changes within myself to become a better person.

Reflection:

These 7 Habits of Highly Effective People really taught me alot on how to be an effective person towards success. It has taught me to put my needs before my wants and also to prioritze. I will commit to these 7 Habits by trying to practice one everyday of the week.

Importance of Setting Goals

Image result for importance of setting goals

Goal setting is an important component of students' motivation, self-regulation, and achievement in academic settings. A goal is a behavior or outcome that one is consciously trying to perform or attain. Goal setting refers to the process of establishing that behavior or outcome to serve as the aim of one's actions. Some goals that I have make is getting to graduation with my friend. I try to make goal that are difficult to achieve There’s a very common pattern that comes with working towards goals that we’re all familiar with: you set your mind to something, you get excited and work like mad, and then motivation starts to wane. Having goals that you can focus on and visualize helps you better connect yourself with your inner desires, and gives you the motivational energy you need to work through periods where your focus inevitably starts to wane.

How to Win Friends and Influence People

Six Rules to Make People Like you. If you want people to like you.........

Image result for interested in other people

Rule 1: Become genuinely interested in other people.
If you become genuinely interested in other people you will be welcome at any place/ household. I strongly agree with this quote by Dale Carnegie because when I meet new people, I have a strong interest and curiosity in learning more about them. You would make more friends in month of being interested in people than in a year of someone being interested in you. The only way to make quality, lasting friendships is to learn to be genuinely interested in them and their interests. People love to talk about themselves, but never take into consideration that if you ask about someone else interests for a change, they'll love you for it. You should focus on being interested, not interesting. There is a big difference. Interesting is about you, interested is about them. I will apply this new way to my life by taking more interest into my friends and family instead of being self-centered.

Image result for smile
Rule 2: Smile
A simple smile can go a long way when you greet someone or meet someone. Actions speak louder than words, and a smile can speak for itself. When you smile at someone, it basically means you are happy to see them. If you are not in the mood to smile, then force yourself to smile. A smile does a few things in several aspects of your life. First off, it will bring happiness to your home. If you wake up in the morning and smile, it will make everyone in your household feel the good vibes coming from you. A smile can also rub off on someone. For example: if someone sees you smiling, they will start too without noticing. Secondly, smiling will also benefit you in a work environment. It will uplift your coworkers and your/their mood at work. Lastly, a smile can cause you to make new friends. It is usually a sign of positivity when you meet someone and they give you a warm smile. It makes them feel welcomed into your life, and they will want to be around you more.

Image result for remember names

Rule 3: Remember names
Something very important to get people to like you is remembering who they are and what name they go by. A person is interested more in their name than all the other names combined. It makes a person feel very special when you remember their name because it shows a piece of your mind remembers them. A person's name is the most unique and identities word a person has a connection to. When we remember peoples name, it shows a sign of courtesy and a way of recognizing them. When a person remembers our name after meeting us, we feel respected and more important. It makes a positive and lasting impact on us. When we don't remember a name and people have to repeat is several timesit makes us feel a little unappreciated. To apply this new rule to my life I will repeat peoples names over and over so I will not forget them and learn them easily

Image result for good listener

Rule 4: Be a good listener. Encourage others to talk about themselves
If you want to make a good converstaion with someone, you have to be a good listener. When you are talking to someone, they are far more interested in themselves than in others. When someone shares something they love or enjoy they will feel good when they talk and associate those feelings with you. It is a winning formula for making friends as well as influencing people. When you talk to someone you should ask alot of questions about them. In no time you will see the positive results in your life. I will apply this new way to my life by engaging in conversations with new people and asking lots of questions. For me it is very fulfilling to hear about peoples lives, because not everyone has the same aspirations, goals, or dreams. I will from now on encourage other people to talk about themselves, and not be so self indulged in the conversation all the time

Image result for talk in terms of the other person's interest

Rule 5: Talk in terms of the other man's interest
Talking in terms of the other persons interest is not that hard.It just takes the willingness and patience to be a good listener and the smarts to ask a few good questions. The willingness and patience are the hardest things for most people for a few reasons. This could be because we want to be known or because we aren't good listeners. If you can be a good listener and talk in terms of the other person’s interests it can end up being fun because you get to know more about another person and you might learn about something new. This week I will  be focused on being a good listener and engage people on their terms based on their interests.

Image result for important

Rule 6: Make the other person feel important--and do it sincerely
Being sincere helps someone believe that you are a genuine person. By being sincere you are making the other person feel more comfortable. This will lead to a more interesting conversation. This is a great trait because if you make them feel comfortable, then they are more likely to open up. When you can make people open up it makes them know you actually care. For example, someone can just fake it and not be genuine when talking to you. They will most likely be using sarcasm because they don't know how to make you feel comfortable. Someone that will usually always be genuine and make you feel comfortable will be your mother. She is usually always there for when you need her. I go to her when I need something.

Reflection :
The six rules of making people like you is very important. It really helped me think about the things that people might actually like.

Computer Science

New gesture control technology that can turn everyday objects into remote controls could revolutionize how we interact with televisions, and other screens
Imagine changing the channel of your TV simply by moving your cup of tea, adjusting the volume on a music player by rolling a toy car, or rotating a spatula to pause a cookery video on your tablet. New gesture control technology that can turn everyday objects into remote controls could revolutionize how we interact with televisions, and other screens -- ending frustrating searches for remotes that have slipped down the side of sofa cushions.
Reflection: My thoughts on this is that it is really cool but also very scary at the same time. It is crazy how much technology has advanced over the past couple of years. I think that I would not like to control a TV screen or any other screen like this because it would make me lazy, whereas I can just get up and grab the remote. You can even change the channel with your pet cat, which is really weird and I don't see how it would be able to work.

LOVE ???

Love is the most powerful emotion a human being can experience. The strange think is, that almost nobody knows what love is. Why is it so difficult to find love? That is easy to understand, if you know that the word “love” is not the same as one’s feeling of love. The word love is used as an expression of affection towards someone else I love you but it also expresses pleasure I love chocolate. To make it a little more complicated, the word “love” also expresses a human virtue that is based on compassion, affection and kindness. This is a state of being, that has nothing to do, with something or someone outside yourself. This is the purest form of Love. Enjoying, loving and passion are 3 different emotions. It is essential to learn again the true meaning of words, not merely to communicate with someone else, but also so learn to experience them. Words are very powerful instruments. Not only to communicate with others, but also with your self. The words you use, creates awareness and eventually your reality.

The Six Attitudes of High Achievers

John R. Noe

Related image

1. Make no small plans: Plan BIG
I agree with this attitude by John R Noe. In order to be successful in life, we need to show that we want success. We can do this by planning big, and taking those actions. An example of this can be if you are planning to go to college, you need to plan BIG since freshman year. Since freshman year, you need to have good grades and be involved in school. Also throughout these 4 years you should be looking into your major and which colleges you would like to study at. If you barely start planning your senior year, you will be making small plans & will be unprepared. Planning BIG to me is planning ahead of time so that your plans will be carried out smoothly. I will apply this new attitude by not limiting myself to having small plans. When I make plans for myself, I will make sure to always plan BIG so that my goals will be reached and so that I set high standards for myself. If I set these high standards and plans fro myself, then I will be a step closer to being a higher achiever. I chose this quote by Walt Disney because it tells us how any dream is possible to accomplish, no matter how big or small. We can achieve anything we desire if we put our minds to it.

Image result for fear quotes
2. Do what they Fear
This attitude by John Noe is very moving and inspiring. What this attitude means to me is that you should do what others think you cannot do or are not capable of doing.  Too often we let fear paralyze us and make us completely still. We become stuck in this fear and we spend all of our time treading water. If you start to tread in one place for a long period of time, you will become tired and sink. This also applies to the real world because if you let fear control you then you will always be scared and will never accomplish you goals. High achievers do what they are scared of doing because they are braver than the fear that they have itself.

3. Willing to prepare
This attitude by John Noe means that in order to reach your goals you need to prepare yourself. No high achiever could possibly be successful over night. Masters of anything in the world understand the need to prepare to get better. High achievers understand the need for an organizational plan to prepare each and every day to execute on their vision. High achievement is a process rather than an event. Every big event is a result of little events that were carefully planned along the way. Once you reach your highest goal, you can talk and  write about it, savor it as a memory. In the daily experience of preparation, you are a step closer to being a high achiever.Attaining high goals require that they be planned out ahead of time, so there wont be any surprises at the end. Its better to be prepared than unprepared because life takes unexpected turns. For example, if I am unsure if practice starts at 2:30 or 3:00, I would be there at 2:30 so I am giving myself the benefit of the doubt. And if I am early, then I have some free time before practice to prepare ahead.

Image result for failure quotes
4. Willing to rick failure
High achievers understand that with every risk comes a chance of failure. When failure happens, high achievers don’t quit. They get up and move on. If they dwell on the loss they took, they're will never be room for improvement. If you are not willing to take a risk for the unusual, you will have to settle for the ordinary. A person who wishes success has to view failure as a healthy inevitable part of their journey. Failure is not the enemy of success. Everyone fails at least once in their lifetimes, and probably many more times. Just because you fail at something doesn't mean you lost forever. There will always be new opportunities waiting for you. When you fail at something, it prepares you to be even netter for next time.If you are going to be a high achiever you must learn to "fail" your way to high achievement. An example can be seen when I fell right off my bike. I picked it up and kept trying until I finally got the difficult task.

Image result for teachable quotes

5. Are teachable
Teachable High achievers are people who seek knowledge. They spend time reading, studying, and observing and listening to those around them. Being a teachable person means either you are being taught something, or you are teaching others. High achievers like to learn things raw, no shortcuts or anything of that sort. High achievers continuously pursue new knowledge anywhere and everywhere, as well as new insights. Having a teachable mindset requires 3 things-  reading, observing, and listening. It also demands  recognition that "the higher you go the more help you need." High-achievement goals can only be attained with the help and advice of others. They will take advantage of the many mentors along their path to guide them to success. I will apply this new way to my life by reading everyday, so that I can gain new knowledge.

Image result for have heart
6. Have heart
Things that come from our hearts include goals, visions, and sensitivity to other people. Out of this emotional connection comes the opportunity to serve others at a higher level. Having heart when you are a high achiever is important because you need some emotion at some point in order to make righteous decisions. The best rewards in life come to those with a heart to persist and the courage to stay away from the pessimistic crowd. Some people are satisfied with "just getting by" or barely reaching a goal, but a determined heart is the heart of a champion. High achievers have a purpose, and have the heart to pursue it when everyone else quits. An example of a high achiever having heart can be seen with celebrity Rihanna. She is a high achiever and has worked very hard for her success, but she also has heart. She had heart enough to be grateful for all the wealth success has brought her and used some of it to donate to charities. I will apply this new attitude to my life by writing my goals in my journal, and not giving up until I accomplish them.
